KHYBER'S ANNUAL FEMFEST EXHIBITION
This November The Khyber Arts Society will be partnering with the Saint Mary's Women's Centre to present the FemFEST art show. FemFEST is anannual celebration of music and visual arts. FemFEST was started by Feminists for Just and Equitable Public Policy (FemJEPP) in order to provide a platform for performers, poets and artists who identify as part of the women's and transgendered community. The exhibition will open November 2 as part of the weekend's festivities and remain open to the public through December 7th.
Beastie:
A call to the wild or strange.
Referring to some one as a beast suggests that their savage traits come at the cost of reason. By contrast Beastie describes a person informed by animal qualities but in no way at the preclusion of logic. In celebration of artists whose practices thrive on carnal fun, the Khyber presents "Beastie" as the exhibited portion of FemFEST. We are asking for submissions of work that merge wild abandon with informed intellectual practice.
The exhibition space will be located on the third floor of the Khyber and includes the alternative spaces of the Closet, the Old Mullet and the Residency space. With these spaces in mind we greatly encourage submissions of site-specific work as well as work which maximizes the large amount of space available.
A small artist's fee will be offered.
The deadline for submissions is September 30.

- Artist's statement
- Proposal or project description
- 5 - 10 images (images of the actual work and/or past work to support a proposal)
- Other support material (optional)
*We will accept submissions of work from all mediums.
